The Pause

The folk dancer's feet at rest, with traditional anklets and vibrant blue sari fabric. A quiet moment of anticipation and groundedness.

The Story

'The Spaces Between' is rooted in personal memories of watching, learning, and performing South Asian classical and folk dance, and celebrates the moments that live beyond the movement itself. The anticipation before a performance, the music that sets the rhythm, the gestures that communicate without words, and the colors and details that stay with you long after the performance ends.

From the quiet rest of a dancer's feet and the familiar presence of the tabla to the expressive language of hand gestures, each piece captures a different facet of dance as a living experience—one shaped by rhythm, tradition, color, and memory.

Rendered in richly layered digital oil pastel, a moody palette of jewel-toned blues, greens, and purples meets the warmth of marigold orange. Together, these three works offer a contemporary, deeply personal reflection on the beauty of South Asian dance and the moments that make it unforgettable.

Only 5 sets of the three paintings are being made, making it truly a limited collection. Each piece is 14 × 11 inches and printed on archival, museum-quality paper, professionally framed and ready to display.
